Part 23: Construction of the Centre for Computing and Engineering

"And so it begins..."

Jul 19, 2004, 2:35pm, Day 1:
The moving truck is maneuvered
into the EPH loading-dock.

Jul 19, 2004, 2:35pm, Day 1:
The moving-crew fills the loading-dock with benches
and the truck is loaded.

Jul 19, 2004, 4:05pm, Day 1:
Due to mis-communication, the loading-dock
and freight-elevator in ENG are not available and so the desks
have to be unloaded at a side entrance along Dalhousie.
There was also a delay while the movers waited for their hard-hats.

Jul 19, 2004, 5:35pm, Day 1:
Benches that don't fit in the truck
are moved manually. Can a lab-bench travelling the
wrong way, up a one-way street get a ticket?

Jul 19, 2004, Day 1:
The good news: the benches fit in the passenger
elevator (otherwise they would have to be moved up the stairs);
the bad news: only a single passenger elevator
is operational and (wait, it gets worse) only a single 6' bench
fits in the elevator. Yes, it was a long, slow day.

Jul 19, 2004, Day 1:
At the end of the day, the tables reach
their destination. The maps, showing the table-layout, taped to
each desk made their placement easy and accurate.

Jul 20, 2004, Day 2:
All the gorgeous Violent Purple cabinets
are moved on this day, in addition to a few remaining tables.

Jul 20, 2004, Day 2:
The crew walks down to the loading dock
as the truck arrives.

Jul 20, 2004, Day 2:
The truck pulls into the ENG loading dock.

Jul 20, 2004, Day 2:
The truck is ready for unloading.
The man on the right is the freight elevator
operator. Since the elevator has not yet been
certified, a qualified operator has to be present.

Jul 20, 2004, Day 2:
The furniture awaits loading into the freight
elevator, which can handle 3 desks at a time.

Jul 20, 2004, Day 2:
At the end of the day, all the desks and
cabinets are in place.

Jul 20, 2004, Day 2:
Group-shot of the crew from
Clifford Moving Services before they head home.
The empty truck is in the background.
