We've Moved

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department has now vacated Eric Palin Hall and is operating from the new Centre for Computing and Engineering (CCE) located at 243 Church Street; the main office is located in room ENG478.

directions

Enter the CCE via the North-West entrance and take stairs to the 4th floor.

STUDENT REGISTRATION

Students are advised to enter the Centre via the North-West entrance (Church and Gould) and use the North stairs to go up to the fourth floor.

Due to ongoing construction, access is restricted to the East corridors of the building (along Dalhousie) where the faculty offices are located and the North corridors where the Main Office is located; the rest of the building, demarcated by barriers, is unfinished and unsafe (requiring the use of a hard-hat and safety boots). For your own safety, please do not enter these areas.

NETWORK SERVICES

All network servers are now operational. Here is the latest status of services on the undergraduate network (as of Sep 03 00:29):

  1. Internet Link: OPERATIONAL
  2. File server: OPERATIONAL
  3. Email: OPERATIONAL
  4. Web server: OPERATIONAL
  5. Remote logins: OPERATIONAL
  6. Dial-up modems: OPERATIONAL
  7. Backup servers: OPERATIONAL
  8. CCE/EPH link: OPERATIONAL
  9. Networked printing: OPERATIONAL

CMC software is not available, until further notice, due to a HD failure on the CMC RAID array.

OCCUPANCY

Please keep in mind that the Centre is still under construction. “Substantial Completion” is scheduled for September 3, 2004. This means that there will be construction noise and dust for much of the time prior to Sept. 3 and perhaps even after, as the Atrium is still undergoing construction and won't be completed for a few months yet.

HEATING, VENTILATION, AIR-CONDITIONING (HVAC)

There will be on-going work balancing (temperature and air-pressure) the air handlers. Please expect disruptions to ventilation and air-conditioning (heating during the winter months) for the next few months. These disruptions will happen at the start of each of the four seasons until the following year.

DEFICIENCIES AND THE POST-OCCUPANCY SURVEY

After moving in, please make a note of any deficiencies visible in your office: holes, scratches, dents, dirt, stains, missing fixtures. For each room in the building, Ryerson Campus Planning will provide a survey to be filled out where all these deficiencies will be noted. There is currently a construction deficiency list ("AECON" appears in a top right corner) taped to your wall; please do not remove this sheet.
