Topic Category

Signal Processing / Communication

Preamble

The practical project “Smart Bike” gathers various information regarding the rider performance basing the sensors that are mounted on the bike. The sensors are interfaced using an Arduino UNO or something similar. This project also aims to provide the real-time assessment of a rider’s performance and to provide security features to the rider. It is also tailored to provide ease of the operation of the bicycle during the ride.

Objective

The project aims to design a smart bike with a multitude of sensors for safe biking and fitness tracking.

Partial Specifications

1. It should have an ultrasonic sensor for rear vehicle approach indication.
2. GPS SD card logger for recording the details of the ride.
3. LEDs for left and right indication
4. Hall effect sensor for measuring the cadence, speed, and distance travelled.
5. The bike should be able to measure the rider's heartbeat, ambient temperature and humidity.
6. It shall also have a bluetooth speaker connected to the riders cell phone for handsfree emergency communication.

The calculated information shall be displayed to the user using an LCD screen or by other means.
