Preamble

Busy lifestyle demands the need of automation at home and workplaces. Door automation gives an excellent option to the elderly and disabled to access the door without any inconvenience in passing across the door. In automatic doors using IR sensors, the door opens and closes for every person it recognizes. The problem is that sensor works even if the person, who doesn’t want to use it, enters the arena of the sensor. To solve this problem, this project creates an automatic door by using face and voice recognition.

Objective

In this project, home automation is carried out using voice and face recognition to avoid unnecessary opening and closing of the door with any motion or recognition of any person. It will be restricted to certain words or speech and only particular person through voice and face recognition modules embedded with microcontroller.

Partial Specifications

• The project should be able to provide connection between microcontroller and face recognition module to track individual coming towards the door.
• The project should be able to recognize the speech and voice of the individual.
• The project should be able to embed face and speech recognition with the microcontroller.

Suggested Approach

• ESP32 CAM camera module for face recognition of the person entering the room. Arduino Uno microcontroller board based on the ATmega328P or similar Microcontroller. Serial voice recognition module. Microphone. Stepper motor.

Group Responsibilities

1. Perform Literature review
2. Collect and design the technical information to implement the system under consideration,
3. Implement and test of the entire system with the above objectives,
4. Write a technical report and present the obtained results at the end of this project, describing the main steps of writing the code in embedded C and the technical connection between the hardware units.

Student A Responsibilities

- Design and implement hardware requirements for face recognition circuit.

Student B Responsibilities

- Design and implement hardware requirements for voice recognition circuit.

Student C Responsibilities

- Design and implement the hardware connections between face recognition circuit, voice recognition module and micro-controller.

Student D Responsibilities

-Design and implement the microcontroller software programming and hardware connection of stepper motor for the door.

Course Co-requisites

Electronic power circuits, programming in C

To ALL EDP Students

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, in the event University is not open for in-class/in-lab activities during the Winter term, your EDP topic specifications, requirements, implementations, and assessment methods will be adjusted by your FLCs at their discretion.
